Utah Local Food Advisory Council to Announce 2023 Priorities and Grant Programs to Support the State’s Agricultural and Food Industries
WHAT: The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) and Co-Chairs of the Utah Local Food Advisory Council—Sen. Luz Escamilla and Rep. Mike Kohler—will announce the Council’s priorities for 2023 and will highlight central grant programs available to support Utah’s agriculture and food industries.
The Utah Legislature created the Local Food Advisory Council in 2017 through the passage of H.B. 121. The Council consists of 15 members from a variety of partnerships, including food distributors, retailers, advocates, and government agencies. The Council studies and makes numerous policy recommendations related to strategies to best promote and support vibrant and thriving local food economies, including fostering the viability of family-owned farms and providing greater food security for Utahns.
