Sen. Karen Kwan's Statement on Shooting in Monterey Park, CA

SALT LAKE CITY - Senator Karen Kwan released the following statement in response to the tragic shooting in Monterey Park, CA:

“My heart is heavy with the news of the tragic mass shooting in Monterey Park. While it is unclear what the motive was, a comprehensive and impartial investigation must immediately be conducted. This massacre occurred during a Lunar New Year celebration, which is central to the traditions and hearts of our Asian American communities, and I am entirely heartbroken and here to stand with friends, loved ones, and fellow community members who are feeling a weight of hopelessness and distress. Here in Utah, we have a vibrant and diverse Asian American community, and we must come together and support one another. I am sending humanity and compassion to the families in Monterey Park.”
