Utah State Senator Derek Kitchen Applauds Utah Conversion Therapy Ban

Utah State Senator Derek L. Kitchen issued the following statement in response to Governor Gary R. Herbert’s decision to enact a rule banning the practice of so-called “conversion therapy” in Utah:

This is a great moment for the safety and wellbeing of Utah’s LGBTQ+ youth. I am grateful to the countless Utahns who have written and spoken out in favor of banning conversion therapy. Governor Herbert’s action will protect Utah’s LGBTQ+ community from a dangerous and cruel practice rejected by all mainstream medical and mental heath organization in the United States. I look forward to the day when conversion therapy is banned nationwide.
